Webflow vs Wix and where Wix Studio fits

The short answer

Webflow is the stronger choice for a SaaS marketing site thanks to cleaner code, a more flexible CMS, finer SEO control and a bigger professional ecosystem. Wix is easier for a quick small-business site, and Wix Studio narrows the gap for agencies, but few SaaS teams pick it over Webflow.

Wix is the biggest website builder in the world by user count, and Webflow is the visual builder most professional web designers reach for. Wix has spent the last few years moving upmarket with Wix Studio, a responsive, agency-oriented editor with a developer platform, which makes this comparison closer than it used to be.

For SaaS companies, the deciding factors are the same ones that decide every platform question: how much control designers get, how far the CMS stretches, how clean the output is for SEO and speed, and whether you can hire people who know the tool.

Pricing

What each platform really costs

Wix's Premium plans range from roughly $17 to $159 per month billed yearly, with Business at about $39; Webflow's Premium site plan is about $25 per month billed yearly plus seats. They're close enough that pricing shouldn't decide it. Watch Wix's first-term discounts, which renew at full price.

In detail

Where the differences actually show up

Design control

Edge: Webflow

The classic Wix Editor positions elements freely on a canvas, which is fast but produces fragile responsive behavior. Wix Studio fixes much of that with responsive grids, stacks and breakpoints, putting it closer to Webflow.

Webflow still offers more precise control: class-based styling, reusable components with properties, variables for a full design system, and interactions with GSAP. For a SaaS brand with a strict design system across hundreds of pages, Webflow is easier to keep consistent.

CMS

Edge: Webflow

Wix's CMS supports collections and dynamic pages and can power a blog, team pages or a directory. It's capable, though modeling rich relationships across content types is clunkier.

Webflow's CMS is purpose-built for marketing content: reference and multi-reference fields, filtered and nested lists, CMS-bound SEO fields and an API for syncing. Integration libraries, case studies and programmatic SEO pages are all routine.

SEO and performance

Edge: Webflow

Wix has invested heavily in SEO, and the old reputation is outdated: server-side rendering, editable meta, structured data options, redirects and a decent SEO setup checklist. Wix sites can rank.

Webflow's advantage is output quality: semantic HTML you control, minimal JavaScript, and very good Core Web Vitals by default. On competitive SaaS keywords, technical details add up, and Webflow leaves fewer to fight.

Developer options and built-in tools

Edge: Wix

Wix's developer platform (Velo and the newer Wix CLI) lets you write front-end and back-end JavaScript, use a database, and build custom functionality inside Wix, which is more server-side capability than Webflow offers. Wix also bundles bookings, payments, email marketing and basic CRM.

Most SaaS companies don't need those bundled tools, because they already run HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe and a product analytics stack. Webflow focuses on the site and integrates with the rest.

Decision guide

When to pick each one

Choose Webflow if…

  • You want a professional designer or agency ecosystem to hire from
  • SEO, Core Web Vitals and design-system consistency matter
  • Your stack already covers CRM, email and payments
  • You'll grow into content-heavy CMS templates

Choose Wix if…

  • You're a small business that wants bookings, payments and email in one tool
  • You want server-side JavaScript inside your site builder
  • Your agency already standardizes on Wix Studio
  • Speed of a DIY launch matters more than long-term control

Our verdict for SaaS

Webflow for SaaS. Wix for small businesses.

Wix Studio is a credible tool, and we wouldn't force a healthy Wix Studio site into a rebuild. But for a SaaS company choosing today, Webflow gives you better output, a CMS that fits marketing content, and a much deeper pool of SaaS-savvy designers and developers.
